About this Role

Our galley team supplies the crew, day crew, hospital, Low Care Unit, HOPE Center, and outpatient families
with delicious and healthy meals each day.

What You Will Contribute

• Oversight of the Hospital team in meal preparation, cleanup, and sanitation.

• Ensure the hospital team is trained in the procedures and safety factors of the equipment before use.

• Lead setup and stocking of cooking stations with necessary supplies.

• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the galley area, adhering to sanitation standards.

• Adapt to any changes in the menu or galley procedures as directed by the Galley Team Leader, Senior
Chef, Food Services Manager or Dietician.

• Assist the Senior Chef and Food Services Manager.

• Attend departmental meetings on all workdays.

• Attending meeting with the hospital.

• Maintain open communication with the Dietician and Ward Manager.

(Working hours Monday to Friday, core hours between 07:30 and 16:30)

For This Role, You Will Need

• Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding program

Prior work experience in a restaurant, catering, or cafeteria required.

Experience working in a hospital kitchen is advantageous.

• Prior leadership experience preferred, ideally in a restaurant or culinary setting.

• Culinary degree or relevant culinary training preferred.

• Certificate in food handling and safety standards through ServSafe is required before service.

• Able to live in and contribute to community life, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills.

• Ability to multitask and work well within a team dynamic.

• Able to lift 30 lbs./14 kg. regularly and have endurance for physical labor activities including bending,
kneeling, and walking up and down stairs
